This could just be a me problem so sorry if this request is misplaced.
I look at a computer screen for approx 9 hours/day for work. I have taken measures to reduce my eyestrain already (computer glasses, f.lux, big monitor) but I'm still having some problems. Obviously this request wouldn't fix everything, but I think it would be nice to have an optically relaxing experience while I visit this forum. That being said, here are my suggestions:
1) let's use the BlackStealth skin as a starting point because it is already pretty close to what I want
2) The outer pattern is bad, change that to something a little less busy or just extend out the dark grey background color that is next to it.
3) a lot of the links are white, change this to a more muted grey like the personal top right links.
4) the background for reading a post should be the same color as the background for writing a post, same goes for font color.
and that's it. I know this is probably more of a personal request so I completely understand if you shoot it down.
If the rest of the community would like this I guess leave a note on the thread so Ciel can see :).

Yeah I agree sora it hurts to look at the current layouts currently.
Main problem with BlackStealth is it doesn't match our website colors at all.

I was just trying to save you some time by using a skin that was already on here. If you can make a skin to both match the site and be relaxing to my eyes then i am all for it.
Well that's the problem. My eyes can handle white just as well as they can darker shades. Before you didn't like dark layouts and wanted light shades, so I made the lighter shade for where text is. Now you prefer the darker color scheme. Which hurts your eyes the most? Thus far it looks like everything hurts your eyes.

Well, I'm not claiming to be an optometrist by any means, but here is what I have learned from experience. Neutral background with black text > Light background with black text > Dark background with light text. Also to have Neutral background with black text and the surrounding colors being a darker neutral is very pleasing to my eyes. Also also, what I have learned from f.lux is if you are in a poorly lit area (say in a cubicle/office with fluorescent lighting) that the monitor's blue spectrum can be displeasing to your eyes and cause unnecessary strain. There is probably some ratio of brightness contrast (light on dark, light on neutral, same hue with differing brightness, etc.) that is optimum for "endurance viewing" like a person would have to do at work, but I have no idea what that is.
As my interest is now piqued about this subject I will continue to do research and figure out what is actually the best for our eyes. Until then though I think the BlackStealth skin is on the right track.

I myself love the colors black or red and any other colow that doesn't annoy the eye, lol. Black stealth is what I have all the time
You mean you want something more like this?(Though obviously more complex because of all the buttons and stuff) I am trying to visualize it in my head.

I still use Nobility 2 because it is a dark text on a light background. I only wish it had been finished as some parts are still slightly broken.

That's what I use too...the broken images are slightly annoying but maybe we will get a new skin out of this :). I know Ciel loves it when I give him more work to do lol.

I personally go with Nobility 2 as well, and I also wish it were 100% complete. But alas, Ciel is sick, so maybe when he's better he can fix something up for us!
