Hey On a ps3 gaming forum that I was on there was a chat box where people that were online could talk to each other without opening up a whole new thread about the discussion. Just a thought
Thanks

From my understanding, we are purposefully avoiding this feature at this time. Through past experiences we have learned that a threaded/forum type format with real time communications over the voice chat server help us maintain our sense of community a lot stronger than with real time chat. Of course I will let the admins give the final word on that.

Ill admit Im not up to date on the various features or plugins for the forums. Personally i have no interest in providing or having a chat client on teh website. We have vent, and you have in game chat and voice options. Most of us have Steam, msn , or any number of other IM chat systems already. No reason to have one of our own when we can use what is already available.

fair enough, just thought it would be useful for newcomers that couldn't get on the server to be up to date about what's going on, wether the server is down and wraith needs to send a message to everyone without starting another one of those god awful threads or just a a member wanting to say hi. Not all the people have ventrilo, or have everyone added that is on the site especially not full members.
It just gives everyone a unique opportunity to get in contact with people.
Oh well thanks for considering it anyway :)

Keep the ideas coming though Sambo after all if enough people feel it would be worth having we can check into adding it as a service.
But I would be worried about all the random guest that would spam and do not very nice things on such a system.

Yes, thats what I thought about at first but on the Website that I went to you had to wait 30 secs inbetween posts and If you posted more than 5 times in a row you were temporarily suspended from the chat for 30 mins.
I also think If we do have it we could put the list of rules above the chat box saying for example ,Nobility Gaming chat box, No Spamming or Swearing or you will be penalised.
It is like if any of you have an Ipod touch/iphone and you put on a keylock but you try the code to many times, It makes you wait 1 min, then if you do it again it increases the time to 5 min, It will keep going up and eventually they spammer would get a 1 hour to 1 day waiting time.
Also, if they are spamming we should make a message come up saying "warning you are spamming the chat box please stop now" Just so people get a heads up If they are spamming without knowledge of them spamming if you know what I mean..
Here's my issue with chatboxes. A long time ago we went by the name of NeoCetra and were more of a game review community with some anime thrown in with no clear direction. During this period of time we had a chatbox. Yes people loved the chatbox. In fact, the forums were blatantly ignored in favor of the chatbox. Rather than post on the site, people talked in the box. It killed the community and halted it's growth. So I removed the chatbox and have never looked back.
You guys might want a chatbox, but due to past experience in old sites I helped to run, in addition to sites I was a part of, I will not be the one doing any installation. I suggest you download Steam and start mass chats in that or go into the chat room on vent if you really want to IM.

Sambo Jase is not the boss of you.. dont roll over and DIe like a dog.. bitch slap his ass ...But all that aside.
Yea not chat box.. the admins all agree its just a bad idea and hasn't worked in the past too many other options and services are set up already for people to chat. But like i said dont let that deter u from posting out ideas that you might think would help the community.

There is an official Nobility steam group that you can get added to, I believe Jase is the only admin of it right now maybe time to appoint some officers...? :)
Also the announcements section will get an update whenever there is a server outage. If you check right now you can see Jase has already posted about scheduled downtime on the 10th due to an upgrade.

the main reason I wanted to get the chat box is because I use Mac's, I live in a really Mac friendly house and all the Chat/Gaming software that people use Isn't initially used for Mac's.. They only voice chat program that I use with my mates is an Application called Skype.
Skype is a free download where you get uncrowded message boxes, where you can have group voice chats to each other + have text chats with one and other. I personally love the application because of how easy it is to call people, very simple layout with a list of your contacts.
I know I just changed the subject entirely but I just want to have a way to talk and interact with all of you while I am Having fun Playing with you.
I will try out steam but I still think that it is a PC download, but i'll give it a shot.
If you want to have a look at skype, here is the url where you can download it from..
http://www.skype.com/intl/en-us/get-skype/on-your-computer/windows/
It is mostly for macs though I hear it runs GREAT for PC

Install Wine (windows emulator on your Mac). Here is a link: http://www.winehq.org/. I know that Ventrilo is Wine compatible because I have it on my Ubuntu (Linux) machine.

Yea you just can't really game on a MAC.. they are good for many things but NOT gaming. I thought vent ran on Macs though. I know Steam does they released a MAC version early last year. Besides if you are IN game you wont be on the forums doing real time chat..
Well the Minecraft guys play on a tiny window, so theoretically they "could" be on the forums.

Vent does run on a mac you just cant talk to each other, When I am online on vent I'm trying to send messages to people that I am playing with but they don't pay attention because they are not looking at the vent window, while playing.. Well thats what I could think of.

This is true. When I play minecraft I always have about 3 different windows open, one of those 3 is ALWAYS nobility.
